What Can I Expect?

- To learn about the a cappella art form from a dynamic and experienced director. Jonathan Riviere has over 17 years of experience, is brimming with enthusiasm and challenges us each week to better our skills.

- To find your place in the chorus! No formal training or musical knowledge is required. We provide all the tools and education for you to find your voice.
Membership Options
Full-time, Local Members
Men living within a 100 miles radius of our rehearsal location are full-time members of the chorus.
Members ages 14 to 25
Young men ages 14* to 25 are full-time members with the benefit of a 50% discount on dues and membership fees.
Distance Members
Big Chicken Chorus has recently approved a program for men who travel greater than 100 miles to rehearsals. Because of the distance you travel, attendance expectations are greatly reduced.
*Members age 14-17 require a sponsor.

How do I become a member of the Big Chicken Chorus?
It’s simple. Show Up. Sing Out. Sign Up.
Show Up
You have probably heard the old line: “90% of success is showing up.” So, show up at one of our regularly scheduled Monday night rehearsals at the Towne View Baptist Church, 950 Shiloh Road, NW in Kennesaw. The rehearsal starts at 7 pm but it would be great if you show up by 6:45 or so to meet our Director and membership coordinator and get a copy of the music that will be sung at the rehearsal.
If you simply want to observe and listen on your first visit, that’s perfectly OK. No pressure.
When and if you are ready to start to sing, let the Chorus Director know so that he can assess your voice and determine which of the four vocal sections (tenor, lead, baritone, or bass) would be best for you.
Sing Out
Join us in song. If you are brand new to barbershop singing, we ask that you attend at least three rehearsals before seeking membership. If you are transferring from another barbershop chorus, membership decisions can be expedited.
When you think you are ready, let the Chorus Director know and he will arrange an audition which will involve asking you to sing a song in an ad hoc quartet either just before or after a rehearsal or on a break.

Sign Up
To be a member of the Chorus, you will also be joining the international Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), the BHS Dixie District and the Marietta, GA Chapter of the BHS. The Chorus Secretary will work with you to sign up using the online registration process on the BHS website. We very much hope that you will consider becoming a member of the Big Chicken Chorus as we perform and serve the community In Harmony.
